Economic activity back to slow down and goes into negative territory – Daily News – Funchal

Economic activity in Portugal returned to slow in July, settling at -0.3% and entering for the first time in negative territory since September last year, according to indicators released today by the Bank of Portugal (BoP).

According to the Economic Indicators released today by the central bank, the monthly coincident indicator for the annual evolution of economic activity stood at -0.3%.

This value indicates a decrease of 0.3 percentage points compared to June, but economic activity came to slow since January, when the indicator stood at 0.7%.

Economic activity thus enters into negative territory, the first time since September 2013, when the indicator relating stood at -0.1%, according to figures from the BoP.

Monthly Economic Indicators released today also account for a slight decrease in consumption private, with the coincident indicator for the annual evolution of private consumption to settle in 0.9%, 0.1 percentage points lower than in June.

This indicator falls to values ​​February after having remained stable for four months.
