Presidential candidate in Brazil dies in plane crash – Economic

Eduardo Campos, presidential candidate for the Brazilian Socialist Party died today when the unit followed that crashed near the city of Santos. The former governor of the state of Pernambuco was third in the race to the presidency.

According to the Brazilian Air Force, Cessna 560XL where Eduardo Campos followed, lost contact with air traffic control when preparing to land. Local television shows pictures of where you see a column of smoke rise from the place where the plane crashed.

At 49 years old, Eduardo Campos was governor of the state of Pernambuco by PSB, and was presented as a candidate of the left in favor of the free market, and in third place in the race to the presidency, with 9% of the vote.

Ahead found himself the candidate of the Socialist Party Brazil (PSDB) Aetius Neves, 23%, and the current president Dilma Rousseff, of the Workers Party (PT), preferred by 38% of voters.

According to sources the PSB, quoted by Reuters, Allied Fields for the position of vice president, Marina Silva, was not aboard the plane.
