Government provides 455 million to hospitals to pay … – The Ball

The Executive authorized the payment of capital increases in 18 public hospitals, with the aim of halting the accumulation of arrears, according to reports the Business Journal.

To prevent ‘accumulation of new arrears (…) makes -where appropriate to reduce the stock of arrears that reaches some entities a dimension, which in relative terms compared to income, reveals a future unsustainable situation, ‘says the order published in the Official Gazette and signed by the Secretary of the Treasury, Maria Isabel Cabral de Abreu Castelo Branco and the Secretary of State for Health, Manuel Ferreira Teixeira.

This solution aims that hospitals can stay with ‘positive equity’.

North Lisbon Hospital Centre, with almost 80 million euros and the Centre Hospitalier de Setúbal with almost EUR 70 million, are the ones who will receive more funding, according to the same publication.

455 million euros will be made available by the General Directorate of Treasury and Finance.
