ACT detected nearly a thousand irregularities in two months – Observer

The Authority for Working Conditions (ACT) detected nearly a thousand health and safety irregularities covering more than 3,000 workers at 500 workplaces, a set of inspetivas actions carried out in February and March.

the ACT conducted a set of inspetivas actions in 500 workplaces, “with the objective of reducing accidents at work and change of reality in the workplace in Portugal,” said the statement on authority .

The ACT has made over a thousand inspections, through which were detected over 900 irregularities in safety and health at work.

About half of these inspections took place in companies where there were fatal or serious occupational accidents last year. The purpose of the authority is “verify the measures subsequently adopted to accidents, to prevent future similar accidents.”

The irregularities covered more than 3,000 workers and are related to lack of safety of machinery and equipment, lack information and training of workers in health and safety at work, lack of assessment of occupational hazards, lack of safety and personal protective equipment and fire-fighting equipment.

also, nine were found undeclared workers and no workers’ compensation insurance.
