Unemployed registered in the employment centers fall to lowest level since 2009 – Observer

The number of unemployed registered in the employment centers fell to 511,642 , the lowest since September 2009, show the data revealed on Thursday by the Employment and Vocational Training Institute (IEFP) . The decrease is true both in relation to May (the decrease was 4.4%), as compared to the same month of 2015 (a decrease of 4.7%).

The decrease in the number of registered unemployed was general , having seen both among men as among women, among young people and adults.

the IEFP data also show that over of June, there were 49,496 new registrations of unemployed, a lower value than that observed during the month of May, when they sought employment centers 50,006 unemployed. In June last year, the flow of new registrations was 53,650

The entries in job centers vary depending on the evolution of the unemployment rate, but not only:. Also active labor market policies can be a incentive for the increase or decrease in enrollment as to benefit from support and training the unemployed have to be registered.

These are administrative data that account only of the unemployed registered in the employment centers. These figures differ, so the estimates of the National Statistics Institute (INE), to identify the number of people seeking employment, whether or not registered in the employment centers. According to the monthly estimate of INE, the unemployment rate have been 11.6% in May (the June data is not yet available), the same amount that had already been established in April and below 12% in March.
