Ryanair confirmed this Tuesday at a press conference in Angra do Heroism, its new investee Azores. After the premiere in San Miguel in 2015, the airline now comes the Third and announced connections to Lisbon and Porto from December.

Between Third and Porto there will be two weekly flights, on Tuesdays -feira and Saturday. Links to Lisbon will be carried out four times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Tickets are already on sale on the company’s website with a promotional price (valid, the company said, for bookings until Friday) from 19,99 euros per flight.

In a statement, the company says that these new flights will “carry 100 thousand customers per year in the civil air terminal of Lajes”.

The Azores started to receive flights low cost in 2015 spring, after the liberalization of air links, determined by the Government. EasyJet arrived at Ponta Delgada in March, linking the island of São Miguel to Lisbon. Ryanair landed in April, ensuring flights to Lisbon, Porto and London (the latter route was suspended during the autumn / winter but should be available again next season).

The start of the low cost flights on third, and the consequent entry of Ryanair, falls within the framework of decisions taken in April this year during the visit of Prime Minister, António Costa, the Azores under the motto of the future of Lajes and the impact on the local economy of northern disinvestment -American base. He then promised to “promote a tourism promotion program” Third, as outlined in the Joint Declaration of the Government of the Republic and the regional government. One of the points, it is guaranteed that “will begin as early as next winter IATA 2016/2017, new flight connections per week to Terceira, through low cost operations with two flights per week from Port-four Lisbon” .Only lacked refer Ryanair

the aviation company will thus be present in almost all major domestic airports, lacking only one: Funchal. In July, the Regional Government of Madeira confirmed it had made a proposal to the company to commence activity on the island. Around the same time, Ryanair, for the first time by Crewlink marked for a session Funchal to recruit new employees.
