Lisbon with over 15 thousand cars a day in two years – Jornal de Negócios – Portugal

The city of Lisbon has received in the last two years, 15 thousand new cars per day. The number is enhanced by the edition of this Friday, October 28, of the Daily News.

“we Have enrolled in Lisbon 160 thousand vehicles, and come in Lisbon about 360 thousand,” said councilman Manuel Salgado to the publication. This shows that two in every three cars arrive from out of town.

The past two years run counter to the trend break in the number of cars entering Lisbon, which had been observed since 2003. For Manuel Salgado, the current numbers are “unsustainable”.

The municipality expects to mitigate the problem to take over the management of the Rails in the next year, with the completion of the works that will limit circulation routes for cars, and with the creation of car parks in the vicinity of metro stations.
