Energy: new operator for switching suppliers allows savings of 2.3 million – TVI24

The secretary of State for Energy, Jorge Seguro Sanches, said today that the new Logistics Operator for Switching Suppliers (OLMC) of electricity and natural gas will allow a saving of 2.3 million euros per year in rates.

In the intervention in the discussion of the proposals for the State Budget for 2017 (OE2017), the ruler explained that “the existence, for the first time, the operator changes independent will make the traders know which the best provider and make the change immediately,”.

Currently, the changing functions of marketing are performed, in the case of electricity, by EDP Distribution, and natural gas, for the REN gas Pipelines, and will cost 2.3 million euros per year, being included in the rates paid by consumers.

The creation of an OLMC, independent, to facilitate the process of change of supplier of electricity and natural gas was provided on the Major Options of the Plan (GOP) and in the proposal of OE2017.

The goal is for this platform to provide services for the extended support to users, increasing the percetibilidade and comparability of tariffs, consumption and faturações of energy. In addition to providing information about the commercial proposals in the market, this entity will also allow consumers to change suppliers, the process called switching – the exchange.
