The turks and the State propose to invest $ 8.1 million in the mine in Alentejo, portugal – Jornal de Negócios – Portugal

The group Turkish ESAN and the company of public capital EDM – Empresa de Desenvolvimento Mineiro committed to invest at least eur 8.1 million in prospecting and research, mining in Portugal.

The investment results of the three contracts to the iberian pyrite belt (with “strong potential for copper and zinc) the region of Alentejo, signed this Wednesday, November 23, by the Secretary of State for Energy, Jorge Seguro Sanches.

According to a statement sent by the Government to the formulations, two of the contracts relate to the joint venture between the group and Turkish ESAN (85%) and the public EDM (15%), in view of the areas of Alcácer do sal, St. Peter of the Heads and the Mountains of the Tables, in the municipalities of Alcácer do Sal, Aljustrel, Castro Verde, Grândola and Ourique. In this case, the investment for the next five years amounted to 7.6 million euros.


The other contract joins the State and the EDM for prospecting and research in the area of “the Rosary” (the municipalities of Aljustrel, Almodôvar, Castro Verde and Ourique), and it is planned that an initial investment of 500 thousand euros.

The statement adds that the ESAN is integrated into the group Eczacibasiesan, with a focus on “activity of the mining and processing of industrial minerals for the ceramics industry”.
