Domingues says in farewell message that objectives were met – RTP

The responsible pointed out that the year 2016 is coming to an end, as his term as president of the Board of Directors and chairman of the Executive Committee of CGD, taking the opportunity to congratulate the workers of the state-owned bank by the “work performed and for the results achieved”.

And observed: “Maintaining the trust of the clients and accomplish most of the goals set in a particularly difficult period and in a framework, at a minimum, challenging, testify to your professionalism and commitment.”

Domingues thanked also “the extraordinary experience of personal and professional” who has lived as the leader of the CGD, highlighting the “extraordinary team of professionals” that accompanied him in this period.

“The plan of the capitalization of the CGD and the Strategic Plan, built by teams of CGD, presented and negotiated with the shareholder and with the european authorities, are the products visible to a program of work very intense that guided us in the past few months, with a view to creating the conditions for the sustained growth of Caixa Geral de Depósitos”, underlined.

“we Comply with the objectives, the capitalization of the company outside of the State aid, and with the deadlines defined. The final schedule of the capitalization is the result of the decision to shareholders. It was an extraordinarily rich experience, that I will not forget,” he added, still leaving wishes for a “prosperous year” 2017 for workers in the CGD.

The management team of the GBD led by António Domingues will remain in office until the future administration, coached by Paulo Macedo, receive the `green light` of the European Central Bank (ECB).

Contacted today by Lusa, the official source of Finance has confirmed that the transition will be ensured by the current team.

The complete list with the future administrators of the GBD is not yet known, but it has already been forwarded by the Government to the ECB, which has to give its approval to the proposed names, something that has not happened yet.

When Frankfurt approve the new members of the Board of Directors of CGD, who will have Rui Vilar as `chairman` (president of the Board of Directors) and Paulo Macedo as executive chairman, will be created the conditions for them to take the positions.

António Domingues presented in November his resignation to the leadership of the CGD, so that should leave the public bank at the end of this year, but acceded to the appeal of the Finance and will ensure this period of transition, which is expected to be relatively short.
