Public debt decreases to 243,2 thousand ME in October – Porto Canal

Lisbon, 02 dez (Lusa) — The Portuguese public debt by 1.2 billion euros in October, in relation to the end of September, to 243,2 billion euros, announced today the Bank of Portugal (BdP).

The BdP states that this variation “reflects depreciation and amortization net securities (1.8 billion euros) and an increase of the liabilities in currency and deposits (0.4 billion euros)”.

according to the institution, the decrease of public debt was accompanied by a greater reduction of assets in deposits (eur 2.6 billion).

The public debt net of deposits of central government registered an increase of 1.4 billion euros compared to the previous month, totaling 224,6 billion euros, he adds.
