BCP. The president does not comments the interest of Sonangol – Observer

The president of the BCP declined on Wednesday to comment on the reported interest of the angolan oil company Sonangol, which is the largest shareholder of the bank, to strengthen its position for more than 20% of the capital of the Portuguese entity.

Sonangol is a shareholder. I don’t talk about shareholders not about this type of situations. I can not nor want to talk," said Nuno Amado during the press conference of presentation of the accounts of the bank in the first nine months.

And he added: "I Think that it is better to ask to Sonangol, because it is the shareholder. We can not give information that are not public".

The business newspaper online ECO advanced this Wednesday that Sonangol, headed by Isabel dos Santos, want to have more than 20% of the share capital of BCP and so I’ve made to come to the European Central Bank (ECB) a formal request for authorization. Currently, the angolan oil company holds 18% of the share capital of BCP, its largest shareholder.

This news came on the same day took place the meeting of magna shareholders of the BCP, which had among the points of the agenda of the change in the limit desblindagem of the voting rights in the BCP of the current 20% to 30%, in the context of on-going negotiations with the chinese group Fosun to enter into the capital of the Portuguese bank. But the vote of this proposal was deferred until the new General Assembly (GA) that will be held on the 21st of November.

The president of BCP, said that negotiations with Fosun relating to the entry of the chinese group in the bank are well advanced, and waiting until the next day 21 there are conditions to take another step in this process.

Are running the negotiations in an appropriate manner, and we think that day 21 we are able to vote," he said this Wednesday, Nuno Amado.

The manager does not want to specify what are the materials that are not yet closed, but revealed that "it has to do with a set of aspects, whether in nature of business or nature of supervision".

it is Certain that, as Beloved recognized, the postponement of the vote on the change in the limit desblindagem of the voting rights in the BCP of the current 20% to 30%, which was to have been this Wednesday made at the meeting of magna shareholders that preceded the presentation of the results and was deferred until the new general assembly (GA), to be held on the 21 November, "is very connected to the proposal that Fosun did."
