Japan grows above estimates – Jornal de Negócios – Portugal

The japanese economy grew more than expected by economists. Japan reported this Monday, November 14, a growth of 2.2% in the third quarter due to exports.

analysts had predicted between 0.8 and 0.9% growth. In the previous quarter it had grown by 0.7%.

The private consumption, which represents 60% of the economy, increased 0.1% in the quarter, maintaining the same pace of growth than in the previous quarter.

exports, however, rose 2%, which compares with the 1.5% fall in the previous quarter.

The analysts believe that this growth above 2% should lead the Bank of Japan to maintain its monetary policy meetings in December and January.

This expansion, the largest since 2015, will give, according to Bloomberg, some relief to prime minister Shinzo Abe, who may see the economy the japanese penalized with the winning Trump.
