EDP: electricity sales in the Iberian market rises 1.4% – TVI24

The sale of EDP’s electricity in the crucial Iberian market rose year on year, 1.4% in the first half of 2015 to 29 gigawatt hours (GWh), mainly supported by the economic recovery in Portugal, the company said.

“The distributed electricity in Portugal increased 1.6% in the first half supported by some signs of economic recovery in the period,” said the company, notes Reuters.

He noted in a statement posted on the CMVM site, which, in Brazil, distributed electricity decreased 0.5%, penalized by less demand for energy industry on the free market.

The gas distributed in Iberia dropped significantly: 32% to 19.4 GWh. “The energy distributed by EDP retreated 8% in the first half, reflecting the sale of some gas assets in Spain in the fourth quarter of 2014,” explained the EDP.

Excluding the impact of the sale, distributed power would have grown 1.5%, he added.

The installed capacity of EDP stood at 23.3 gigawatts at the end of June 2015. Last year, the company increased its capacity by 492 megawatts (MW), with new wind and solar capacity , the full consolidation of central coal Pecém in Brazil, and new hydro capacity in Portugal.

The number of customers in Portugal EDP was practically stable compared to the same period in 6752.

The shares of EDP follow losing 0.44% to 3.61 euros.
