The Judiciary Police arrested, on Tuesday, a chief inspector and an engineer, now retired, on suspicion of corruption and money laundering capital.
There are two important figures in the institution, who have distinguished themselves in the fight against drug trafficking. During the operation, called “Achilles”, 13 more people were arrested.
One of the detainees, Carlos Dias Santos, spent more than 30 years in PJ, having been one of the principal investigators of the Directorate Central Investigation Drug trafficking (current National unit to Combat trafficking in Narcotic Drugs).
The other detainee, Ricardo Macedo, still in active, is chief inspector that unit.
in a statement, the Judiciary states that were arrested 15 men, aged 39 and 61, who are suspected of active and passive corruption, money laundering and drug trafficking.
the operation mobilized almost two hundred and half elements of the judicial Police, as well as judicial and prosecution magistrates, have been made about 120, domiciliary and non domiciliary, throughout the country.
in the action participated elements of the national Unit combating Corruption, with the collaboration of the National Unit for combating Drug Trafficking, among others.
