Will start the 34th edition of the Essilor Car of the Year/Trophy steering Wheel Crystal. Objective: to highlight the best products in the industry. In contest, there are 16 cars
The most important prize awarded to a product car in Portugal will be discussed by the 16 models from 11 brands and elected by 19 journalists of the written press, digital media, radio and television. This is the title of Car of the Year, an organization of Expresso and SIC Notícias to which the Daily News is associated for 33 years.
Aesthetics, performances, security, reliability, price and environmental sustainability are some of the points that the judges will appreciate to elect the best of the year, based on dynamic tests that will enable you to choose, by simple voting, seven finalists. These will be subject to scrutiny complex and detailed, with points from 1 to 10 for each of these items, which corresponds to a percentage value of the predetermined subject, the weighting that will be applied to the scores of the judges and shall indicate the final result and the successor of the Opel Astra, winner in 2016 in the wake of an extended and unusual consensus.
In parallel, the jury will elect the winners of the five classes in the competition in this edition: City, station Wagon, Family, Crossover, and Ecological of the Year. These will join the winners with the awards for Technology Innovation and Audience award (awarded through voting in social networks).
The initiative aims to reward “the model that represents, simultaneously, a technological breakthrough significant in the context of the car market in the national and the best compromise for the motorist Portuguese in terms of the economy (price and operating costs), safety, and pleasantness of driving”.
The winner is announced in February.
