Three terrorist attacks in France, Kuwait and Tunisia have left 67 dead on Friday (26). The actions took place less than a day after one of the spokesmen of the terrorist group Islamic State announced attacks against Shiites and Christians.
The first was in Saint-Quentin-Fallavier, about 40 kilometers Lyon, France, against a chemical plant of American property. The second attack was committed by a suicide bomber in Kuwait against a mosque filled with Shiites. And the third was in Sousse , Tunisia, resort frequented by European tourists.
When the van stopped at the entrance of the factory, in France, the gate opened. The car was a transport company that often made deliveries there. But as he entered, the van accelerated and hit a tank with gas containers that exploded. It was after 9:30 am, 4:30 in the morning in Brazil. Firefighters controlled the fire and arrested a suspect just over 20 minutes later, when he was already in another warehouse of the factory, trying to open bottles of flammable products.
Beside the van, he found a decapitated body . The head was attached to a factory gate next to two flags with the Muslim faith statements. The suspect was identified as Yassine Salhi, 35, who lives in the region and works in the shipping company. The headless man was his boss. The woman and the suspect’s sister were also arrested.
The French President Francois Hollande called on the country’s top security officials to a meeting at the Elysee Palace. The president was a terrorist attack
He called for calm and said.. “There can be no doubt about the ability of our country to protect”
In Kuwait, near noon – 6 am in Brazil – an explosion interrupted the prayers of hundreds of Shiite Muslims in a mosque. Twenty-seven were killed and over 200 were injured. The explosion was the work of a suicide bomber.
The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack. This year the terrorist group committed attacks against mosques in Saudi Arabia and Yemen. In both countries, the target was Shiite, that extremists consider heretics. This was the worst terrorist attack in Kuwait in recent years.
The Islamic State also said accounted for the third day of the attack in Tunisia. At local noon, 8 am in Brazil, a man with a rifle, posing as tourists, arrived shooting at a resort guest who were on the beach, in the pool and even in the lobby. Thirty-nine died. Among them, Tunisians, British, German and Belgian. About 40 people were injured and police killed the shooter.
The foreign minister of Tunisia said that the terrorists are finding “fertile territory” in neighboring Libya, where the Islamic State is also acting.
International Repercussion
The US government strongly condemned the three attacks. He said that, clearly, all were terrorist actions and will also investigate them. The UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said that instead of weakening the international community, these attacks strengthen the commitment to fight terrorism.
France raised the alert to the highest level in region of Lyon , which happened the first attack of the day. The suspect, who is in prison, is a man who has been monitored by the French intelligence service on suspicion of involvement with extremist Muslim groups. The authorities began to follow in his footsteps in 2006 but stopped in 2008.
Investigators are scouring a computer seized in the suspect’s house to see if he was ordered to someone or act inspired by the ideas of some group extremist.
