The Toyota and Nissan announced a new collection vehicles round. There are over three million vehicles of the two brands, with Toyota being responsible for the major chunk. At issue are, again, the airbags produced by Takata.
The Toyota and Nissan announced a new round of collection vehicles after May had already announced the collection millions of automobiles. At issue are “airbags”, manufactured by Takata, defective.
This Thursday, June 25, Toyota and Nissan announced the collection of over about three million vehicles. Toyota will collect 2.86 million cars spread over 24 models manufactured between April 2003 and December 2008. Of this total, 1.729 million were sold in Europe, 360,000 in Japan and 190,000 in China, reveals Reuters. On June 16, Toyota announced the collection of 1.37 million vehicles in the US.
Since Nissan will collect 198,000 vehicles, including Navara models, Caravan and Teana, built between April 2007 and December 2008.
On May 13, Toyota and Nissan announced the collection of more than 6.5 million cars. At the time Toyota explained that “between the pieces [of airbags] analyzed the Japanese market, it was found that some elements could contain moisture over time. As a result, [the airbags] can not trigger in case of accident according to projected. The relationship with the intrusion of moisture, if it happens, at the risk of outbreak in not projected conditions, is not known. “
