. Light Free market gained 41,000 customers in November – iOnline

The number of customers in the free market increased by 1% in November compared to October, lower growth in average monthly rate of the last year is 2%. The data was revealed by the Energy Services Regulatory Authority (ERSE). In this month were registered 32,393 supplier changes in the free market, which reveals the dynamism of consumers looking for the best offer.


 
 

The consumption of customers supplied by market regime in November represented 89% of total consumption of customers in continental Portugal and amounted to 39 544 gigawatt hours (GWh), an increase of 99Gwh face to October.

 
 

On an annual basis, the consumption in the free market grew by 9.1% (Free market consumption of 36,255 GWh in November 2014), which corresponds to an average monthly rate of 0.7% in the period.

 
 

In terms of segments, virtually all major consumer consumption is already on the open market, while in the segment of domestic consumers, consumption in the free market is the 74% of the total segment, compared with about 60% in November 2014.

 
 

In November, EDP Comercial maintained its position as the leading operator in the free market in number of customers (85% of total customers) and consumption (about 44% of supplies in the liberalized market) and its share was slightly enhanced in number of clients (0.1 points) and kept in consumption.

 
 

Consumers are still being provided by a supplier of last resort have a transitional period until December 31, 2017 to migrate to the liberalized market.
