Between 2011 and 2014, the average net income of private sector workers fell nearly 6%, but considering inflation, the purchasing power declined 11.6%.

But in the case of the civil service, says the Journal News, the reduction comes twice: between wage cuts, tax increases and discounts for ADSE, civil servants have lost more than 22% purchasing power.

In Portugal the average monthly income was 681 euros in 2013. In Germany was 1,632 euros in Spain exceeded 1,100 euros and in Greece fell to 689 euros, 30% less than in 2010.

Based on Eurostat data of 2’012, economist Eugene Rose points out that the average wage in Portugal made up only 56.4% of the EU average and the 51, 2% for the euro area.
