Securitas has an ongoing collective redundancy procedure of 56 workers of Lisbon, Porto and Coimbra, because it has been losing customers, said today Lusa union source agency.
“The workers were formally informed two days of collective dismissal at national level and we scored on Monday an emergency plenary to enable workers to discuss the situation and possible forms of struggle to challenge the initiative of the company, “said the president of the Trade Union of Workers of the activities several (STAD), Carlos Trindade.
According to the union, the company providing monitoring services has met the legal requirements and informed by letter the workers of its intention to proceed with collective redundancies.
The STAD called on workers to plenary in Lisbon “to mobilize” and to promote the election of a Works Council, which will, together with the union, meet with company representatives to “try minimize damage to the workers. “
According to Carlos Trindade, most workers covered by dismissal (45) are of the greater Lisbon area.
Securitas employs about 6,000 employees nationwide.
The director of human resources of the company, Jorge Martins, confirmed to Lusa that started this week a collective dismissal of 56 people, most of them in the Lisbon area, due to loss of customers.
“We had several termination of contracts, particularly in the public sector, so we can not put all the employees,” he said.
Jorge Martins gave the example of RTP, where they were placed 90 Securitas guards.
“The RTP chose to hire another security firm, with a lower price, with which we could not compete because it did not cover the costs,” he said.
