Buses of Collective Transport Company of Porto (STCP) are paralyzed by the strike that started at midnight and extending until 02:00 on Tuesday.
The workers, who are fighting for the defense of nature public company, require hiring more drivers and claim the right to enjoy vacation days, a right that is compromised by lack of staff. According to the North Drivers’ Union, joining the protest is total and not the minimum services decreed by the Arbitration Court of the Economic and Social Council are being met.
“Only with continued company in the state sphere will be possible to maintain a public service with quality, indispensable to the peoples of Oporto, “the statement of the Union. At issue is the public tender for the sub STCP, launched in August 2014, but that has not been signed with the Spanish group TMB.
At the protest today, plus a strike on weekends, from May 16 and a partial shutdown, the last two hours at a daily service and the first two services with an interval between steps.
