“These are very positive indicators, which confirm the solid and secure path that the Portuguese economy is taking,” said António Pires de Lima, during his speech at the conference commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the ICC – International Chamber of Commerce .
Since the margin of the event, the Minister of Economy stressed that this “is the first time in many years that Portugal grows chain” [QoQ], noting that in the first quarter a year the tourist and agricultural activities are minor.
“Last year, we had a half-point activity decrease and two years ago we did not have any growth,” he said, adding that an increase of 1.4% YoY and 0.4% in chain means that the country is “in a good way, safe, solid and it is important to protect this way.”
Pires de Lima said the economy could grow clearly more to 1.6% this year “if there is judgment from politicians and businesses continue to have an exceptional behavior in exports as is happening this year.”
Pires de Lima also reviewed the progress the country from the financial aid application to the present time and analyzed those that could have been the consequences if there had been “political maturity”.
