Strike by prison guards with membership of around 90% – TVI24

Joining the strike by prison guards, which ended at 24:00 Friday, ranged from 85% to 90%, said the president of the Union of the Prison Guard Corps, revealing that desconvocaram strike next week.

The strike began at 00:00 on the 27th of April and ended at 24 : 00 of May 1, and the sixth strike period marked by the union since the month of March.

According the union, membership has been uneven across the country, and there was some prisons where membership was 100%, giving the example of Santa Cruz do Bispo, in Porto and Sintra, Lisbon.

According to the president of the National Union of the Prison Guard Corps (SNCGP), this is a significant result, which shows that the “most prison guards professionals had the opportunity to show their indignation at the lack of fulfillment of the promises and commitments made by the Ministry of Justice. ”

With regard to the guardianship position, Jorge Alves said it “continues to say nothing” and to keep the “absolute silence” without responding to contact attempts by the union.

Still, the official said that the union is available to give a sign of good faith to guardianship, after the statements made in the Parliamentary Committee for Constitutional Affairs, Rights, Freedoms and Guarantees, in which the Secretary of State for Justice, Antonio Moura Costa, said the contest of prison guards is in progress.



“Believing this to be true, the strike that had decreed for next week, 04-07 [May], has cleared and will be reported next Monday -Thurs to the authorities, “said the union leader.

He added that this stand by the union shows that are trying to find the” best solution “to resolve the problems affecting prison guards.

“We hope that next week, with this union’s good faith, the Ministry of Justice, once and for all, talk and have your say and say at what point are the commitments they made last year in 2014, “said Jorge Alves.

The protest SNCGP relates to the regulation of working hours, the transition from the personal to the new table remuneration, equating to PSP with respect to vacation, with the fulfillment of promotions Career (commissioners, principal chiefs, chiefs and main guards) and to pay the shift premium.
