The contribution of renewable energy to electricity production fell 76% between January and May 2014 to 57% in the first five months of this year indicate REN data.
According to REN information, the company that manages the national electricity transmission networks and natural gas between January and May to electricity from hydro sources accounted for 24% of consumption, followed by wind (27%), biomass (5%) and photovoltaic (1.4%).
As for non-renewable sources, which represented 43% of total consumption, coal was the most used feature, representing 25% of total electricity consumed between January and May. As for natural gas, it had a 14% weight. Other 3% of the energy came from import.
In the first five months of the year, REN’s data also indicate that the hydroelectric producibility index stood at 0.76, with a dry hydrological regime ( 0.93 in May).
By contrast, in wind production conditions have been more favorable, with a producibility index of 1.11 (1.30 in May).
The consumption of electricity increased by 0.7% between January and May compared to the same period last year, or a fall of 0.3% taking into account the temperature correction and days.
In May, consumption increased by 1.1% over the same month of 2015, resuming the positive trend. With correction for temperature effects and the number of working days, the registered increase is 0.7%.
