Aggrieved Association and Santander negotiate solution to bondholders recover investment – Express

The Banif aggrieved Association is in talks with Santander Totta to find a solution for the children of the Banif bondholders, who were the ‘bad bank’, allowing them to recover the money invested.

The information was given to Lusa by the association, which said that the first round of negotiations took place last Friday.
At issue are EUR 263 million, not yet knowing that value can be recovered.

The aggrieved Association of BANIF (ALBOA) will be heard in Banif the Commission of Inquiry next week, May 17, is represented by the president, Jacinto Brito da Silva, the responsible for direct support injured of the Azores, Carlos Alberto da Conceicao Martins and the lawyer Nuno Silva Vieira.

On 20 December last year, the Government and the Bank of Portugal announced the resolution of Banif with the sale of banking to Santander Totta for 150 million euros and the creation of Octant society-vehicle which assets the Totta did not buy were transferred.

Banif SA still exists, having been there the positions of shareholders and subordinated bondholders. In this ‘bad bank’ – like the ‘bad bank’ BES – they were still operations that the bank had in Brazil and Cape Verde.

The Banif aggrieved Association also works with clients who have invested money in Rentipar and BANIF actions obligations, who ensures that “will continue to provide technical and legal assistance.”
