The question of the actual position of the Socialists in relation to the Government’s decision to advance with civil request to mitigate the effects of the general strike called by trade unions of TAP, in the period between 27 and 30 this month, was first raised by Minister Pires de Lima, after being seconded by the parliamentary leader of the CDS, Nuno Magalhães, in the final part of the questioning the Government presented by the PCP on “fight against poverty”.
Faced with the challenge of these two leaders of the CDS , PS bench did not respond in plenary, though, just before, at a press conference, the coordinator of the Socialist benches in the economy commission, Rui Paulo Figueiredo, has argued that the problem was not the issue of civil requisition, but the responsibility of the government in the degradation of conditions for dialogue within the national carrier area.
close the plenary debate, the President of the Parliamentary Group of the CDS regretted the silence of the Socialist benches on civil requisition. “It was clear that between elections and the national interest the PS does not hesitate to choose the elections,” he concluded Nuno Magalhães, after he criticized the actions of the Socialist leader, Antonio Costa, the TAP file.
Before Nuno Magalhães, the economy minister had quoted statements made by his predecessor in office, the socialist Cravinho in 1997, saying that even then refused to see the interest of TAP ‘hostage of irresponsible behavior unions’.
“opportunistically now, the PS no longer recall that the privatization of TAP was defended by a socialist government, which was part António Costa. Said the PS at the time that the privatization of TAP TAP meant competitiveness, modernization and growth, not a lesser evil, but the greater good, “said Pires de Lima, then attack the Socialist benches.
