Ryanair announced Friday (Dec 5) which will open its 4th Portuguese-based (No. 72 in total) in the Azores from April 2015. Counting the base with a plane and 3 new routes to London Stansted, Lisbon and Porto, will generate a 350 thousand traffic / year and create 350 jobs * “in situ”, while invests 100M in the Azores, following the lifting of restrictions of INAC and PSO.
The basis of Ryanair in the Azores will provide:
1 plane
3 new routes to London Stansted (1 x weekly), Lisbon (2 x daily) and Porto (1 x daily)
20 weekly flights with times early in the morning and in the evening
350,000 customers a year
350 * jobs “in situ” a year
Ryanair is also in talks with the Government of the Azores on possible flights to Terceira and additional international flights to the islands
