“All fuel sold in Portugal respects the European standard of quality, which is the most stringent standard in the world,” the public body that manages the national oil reserves and monitors the fuel market, which is the main message of an awareness campaign to be launched next week for drivers.
For the body led by Paul Carmona, “the question of additives is a commercial matter”, stressing that “if the additives were even needed the car brands require their inclusion in the standard.”
The awareness campaign TNGC, supervised by the Ministry of Energy, is a response to those who say the simple fuels, which since April 17 are marketed by all national petrol stations have lower quality.
DECO – Consumer Protection Association has also advocated that the fuel without additives have the same quality of additives.
“There is nothing to fear about the quality of simple fuels,” argues the association, based on a test conducted ‘blind’ in December 2012, called “Same as Liter”.
At the time, four equal vehicles travel the same route daily for a total of 12,000 kilometers with four diesel variants (two simple, regular and ‘premium’), and in the end it was similarly the accumulation of deposits and wear in vital core engine.
“There are no differences between fuels except in price,” recently assured Lusa Victor Machado, product center coordinator and DECO services, by the way which led a complaint with the ASAE by misleading advertising.
Last week, Energy Minister, Moreira da Silva, defended in Parliament that the introduction of simple fuels represent an annual saving of 200 million euros in the making of the Portuguese considered current levels of consumption.
“Devaluing three cents [per liter] is not to be in line with the concerns of the Portuguese. This is EUR 200 million per year that will be spared to consumers,” Moreira da Silva said on commission Economy and Public Works on Tuesday.
