Unemployment rate in Greece remained stable at 25.6% in … – RTP


 

 

 Compared to March 2014, when the unemployment rate was 26.9%, unemployment in Greece in March fell 1.3 percentage points.
 

 ELSTAT revised upwards the February unemployment data since the first estimate pointed to a rate of 25.4% of the active population.
 

 In absolute terms, the number of unemployed in March was 1,211,507, representing a decrease of 4,283 persons compared to February and a decrease of 79,395 compared to the same month 2014.
 

 The number of employees in March was 3,518,858, 16,092 less than in the previous month and 14,056 more than in March 2014.
 

 The number of inactive people – who do not work or are actively seeking work – was 3,368,392, 16,751 more than in February and 13,891 more than in March last year.
 

 By gender, the unemployment rate continued to be higher among women (29.3%) than among men (22.7%).
 

 Youth unemployment remained very high, reaching 49.7% of people aged between 15 and 24 years, despite having registered a decrease of 6.7 percentage points compared to March 2014.
 

 On the fringe of people aged between 25 and 34 years, unemployment fell 2.4 percentage points to 33% compared to March 2014.
