It seems lie, but Larry Page, one of Google’s founders, is investing in two startup to build flying cars. Page have invested, in 2010, over one hundred million dollars (87.88 million euros) in Zee.Aero. Since last year Page invested another startup , the Kitty Hawk, reveals a report released Thursday by the journal Bloomberg Businessweek.
The two startup have no relationship. The flying car design is the only thing they have in common. The Zee.Aero has performed prototype testing at an airport within an hour of Google’s headquarters.
This startup has recruited aeronautical engineers from several large companies, including NASA, Boeing and SpaceX (Elon Musk). Is testing a prototype two-seater that has some similarities to a small commercial plane.
The Kitty Hawk, the other betting Page, is building a “giant” version of a quadricóptero drone. This startup , smaller than Zee.Aero has recruited engineers from a competing company, AeroVelo.
Bloomberg points out that there are several companies that have bet on airplanes to personal use, although it should be noted that some of these projects do not function either as cars or as aircraft. It is not clear also Larry Page investment may indicate a more serious commitment in this field of aviation.
