the Numbers were released by the National Statistics Institute
The indicator of consumer confidence has increased in the past four months, most significantly in December, reaching the maximum value since August 2000, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
This recovery of the indicator of consumer confidence in December was due primarily to the positive contribution of the perspectives regarding the evolution of the unemployment and of the expectations regarding the economic situation of the country and, less significantly, of the judgements of the evolution of the financial situation of the household and savings, explains the bureau of statistics.
Already the economic climate indicator fell in December for construction and public works, and commerce, having increased in manufacturing industry and in services.
The indicator of confidence of the manufacturing industry has increased in the last three months, checking-in December, a positive contribution of all components, opinions on global demand and on the evolution of stocks of finished products and perspectives of the production.
In the construction and public works, the indicator of confidence has decreased in the last two months, as a result of the negative evolution of both components, employment prospects, and opinions about the backlog of orders.
Also in the trade, the indicator of confidence has decreased in the last three months, reflecting, in December, the negative contribution of the balances of the prospects of the activity and of the judgements about the volume of ‘stocks’, since the opinions about the volume of sales contributed positively.
The indicator of confidence in services rebounded in December, mainly due to the positive contribution of the judgements about the evolution of the demand in the month that the consumer confidence shot up to maximum of 16 years.
