Steps says that the economy does not grow because the Government “is revanchista” – News Journal

the president of The PSD, Pedro Passos Coelho, stated, Friday, that the economy is not growing because the Government “is revanchista” and the parties that the support have an agenda ‘ is to undo what was done.”

“If the Government that took office in November of last year, instead of being a Government revanchista, who wants to undo the forces that the previous one did, had been a Government that said very well, what’s past is past, we had a rescue, there have been measures difficult that we had to take (…). Let us now look to the future and see what we can do on top of this,” said Passos Coelho, a social dinner organized by the PSD of Arcos de Valdevez.

Before around 650 militants, the leader of the social democratic party stated that “the economy is not growing as much as was growing in 2015 and the Government think that this year, the better things go, also not grow as much as in 2015, it is because the decisions that have been taken do not favor greater growth”.

“I Am convinced that a Government of the Socialist Party – I do not know if it would be possible with the support of the Communist Party and Left Block, but is another conversation – which looked to the Government in this way would have better results than those that this Government has achieved”, he said.

he Pointed to the cases of Spain and Ireland, which have gone through “processes very similar” with that of Portugal, but that “are growing at a rate much higher than that of Portugal”

“Therefore, it is possible, it is not just a desire to be unrealistic, to say that we needed to be growing 2.5 to 3% because we are growing less than half that.”

Passos Coelho said that “not just manage what is done” and regretted that “Government has taken the decision not only of getting to manage what is how to undo a part of what was done.”

“it Will be possible for the Government to move the needle and make it better. Possible is. If you learn from the mistakes of 2016 can do better in 2017. Instead of the economy to grow as little as is expected, you may be able to grow more, but for this there must be something that can add”.
