reset Government ponders early retirement in the private sector in 2015.

The Government prepares to lift the ban early retirement in 2015, the general rules of Social Security. To confirm this action, the Executive will, as of January 1, 2015, that private sector workers can again apply for early retirement. For these workers, early retirement has been prohibited since 2012.

A preliminary bill of the state budget for next year is silent in relation to thawing the suspension of early retirement in the private sector. The same document states the general principle that “all laws and / or regulations that are directly dependent on the validity of the Adjustment Program and / or the Stability and Growth Pact (SGP), 2010-2013, in its various phases, remain in force during the year 2015. “

Even so, according to a government source, the Executive is at present studying the possibility of lifting the suspension of early retirement in the private sector.
The final decision will be taken on Saturday, during the Council of Ministers Extraordinary intended to approve the proposal of the State Budget for 2015.

For now, the reduction of the tax burden, which the government already admitted to being a possibility, remains secret. Yesterday, the Prime Minister reiterated that “it is evident that Portugal does not have much scope to relax its policy, which essentially aims to reduce the public deficit.”
