March was the best month of a year that is from the beginning to go well for the automotive sector. Sales of passenger cars rose 41.8% last month compared with March 2014, thus maintaining the accelerating trend that has been experiencing for several months.
The data was released on Friday by the Automobile Association of Portugal and indicate that they were sold 20,071 passenger last month. In January, the rise in passenger car sales was 28%, which increased to 35.6% in the following month.
On balance the quarter, growth in passenger was 36.1%, for a total of 43,212 vehicles.
Since light commercial sales rose 7.6% in March and 16.6% in the quarter. The heavy vehicles had an increase of 16.2% last month and 33.3% in the first three months of the year.
Overall, the market grew 36.5% in March to 22,975 units sold, and 33.1% in the quarter to 53,858 cars.
