“Sad news,” was how the American economist and Nobel Prize in Economics Paul Krugman began a text to put in your blog, about the death of José da Silva Lopes.

” Silva Lopes met in 1976 when I joined a group of MIT students who spent the summer working at the Bank of Portugal, which was governor at the time, “Krugman points out.

” Working with Silva Lopes was A major event “of stay in Portugal, he said.

In your text, titled” José da Silva Lopes RIP “(initials of” Rest in Peace “, in English and Latin), Krugman describes Silva Lopes as “an economist and Portuguese ruler who played a crucial role in the conduct of their country to the democratic Europe community.”

Looking to stay in 1976 through the eyes of now, Krugman admits that then Silva Lopes must have been “horrified to try to deal with coarse students, while looking face the chaos of an unstable political system that remains, but showing a good mood and an inexhaustible intelligence.”
