Unemployment in Greece stabilizes at 25.8% – OJE

Unemployment in Greece was 25.8% of the labor force in November 2014, the same percentage as in the previous month, according to revised data of seasonal variations disclosed.

Face to November 2013, when unemployment reached 27.7%, the rate fell 1.9 percentage points.

In absolute terms, the number of unemployed in November 2014 was 1,229,367, representing a decrease of 13,552 people face to October and a decrease of 27,720 in the same month of 2013.

The number of employees reached 3,538,308, less than 27,720 in October and 52,585 more than in November 2013.

The number of inactive people – that does not work or is actively looking for employment -. was 3,347,378, an increase of 36,931 compared to October and a decrease of 2,590 compared with November 2013

By sex, the unemployment rate continued to be higher among women (29.3%) than among men (23%).

The youth unemployment remained high, reaching 50.6% of people between 15 and 24 years, although it declined 6.4% compared to November 2013.

In the group of people aged between 25 and 34 years, unemployment fell to 33%, down 4.3 percentage points compared to November 2013 (37.3%).
