Steps says Portugal needs to attract foreign investment … – RTP

During the presentation of a municipal program to support investment in Anadia municipality, Passos Coelho expressed hope for a more sustained growth in the future, taking into account how the investment has to resume, especially in 2014 and this year.

“The data that we have been observing are encouraging. Our economy began to rebound in early 2013 and has been consecutively in positive territory throughout the year 2014 and the outlook is that the year 2015 be a year of more significant growth” said, adding that the same is expected for the next two years.

However, for this growth to take place, the Prime Minister stressed the need “as bread to his mouth to attract foreign investment also,” claiming that Portugal “has capital deficit”.

“Our entrepreneurs have good ideas and good projects, but have no money. Our entrepreneurs need more capital in order to increase capacity and to export more and better compete,” he continued.

In his speech, the Prime Minister said that entrepreneurs and business owners have depended too much on bank financing and defended the need to diversify sources of funding and to attract additional capital and other investors.

“Without this, our` capital stock` is too limited and does not allow us to grow enough. And that means we have to go looking for these investors. We have to create better incentives, better conditions for them to see in a good Portugal opportunity to invest, “he said.

The “Invest in Anadia” program, sponsored by the local authority, led by an independent movement, has among its objectives the promotion of entrepreneurship and attracting new investments.

The first step of the program, presented today, was the establishment of an Office of Customer Business and Entrepreneur in the Curia Tecnoparque.

The president of Anadia Camera, Teresa Bethlehem, took the opportunity to recall an old claim of the municipality, which is the construction of the access node to the A1 motorway, to facilitate connection to business areas.
