The company ‘low cost’ announced today that will connect Ponta Delgada to London, Lisbon and Porto from April, providing transport 350,000 customers a year. Ryanair is still negotiating the links to Terceira Island.
Ryanair opens in April 2015 a new base in the Azores, the company’s fourth ‘low cost’ in Portugal, with an investment of 100 million euros the value of the aircraft that will be based in Ponta Delgada, with the creation of 350 jobs.
The start of operations for the archipelago means the launch of three new routes, connecting Ponta Delgada to London (Stansted ), Lisbon, with two daily flights, and Porto, a daily flight. Links to London take place once a week. In total will be operated 20 new weekly flights, “with times early in the morning and in the evening.” The airline intends thus carry to and from the Azores about 350 thousand a year.
“Ryanair is also in talks with the Government of the Azores on possible flights to Terceira and additional international flights the islands, “writes the company in a statement sent to newsrooms.
The company proposes a launch marketing year, valid from December 3 to April 1, 2015, with prices of 29.99 euros for the links from Ponta Delgada to Lisbon and Porto and 49.99 euros for London.
The announcement comes a day after Ryanair, easyJet have officially confirmed the opening of links to the Azores from the end of March with four weekly flights between Lisbon and Ponta Delgada.
