Driving licenses may be issued in just five days – Daily News – Lisbon

The Institute for Mobility and Transport (IMT) already has the capacity to start issuing licenses in just five days, provided that the user makes available digitized signature and photograph.

The IMT gave the assurance that Tuesday morning the Union of Workers of the Public Administration and Public Purposes Entities (SINTAP) at a meeting about the long delays in the issuance of driving licenses and car registrations, told the Daily News the Secretary-General of SINTAP, José Joaquim Abraham.

The delays in the issuance of driving licenses are forcing workers to institute much additional work, effort allowed, the 260,000 driving licenses whose issue was suffering delays about 100,000 have already been issued, said the Secretary-General.

José Joaquim Abraham added that it is estimated that the remaining cases of delayed letters become resolved in the next month and a half or two months. The union stressed that the additional work will be paid earlier this month.

The IMT “already has the capacity at this time” to issue driving permits in five days, said José Joaquim Abraham, who expects the deployment this measure helps to regularize the situation of the institute’s workers, although not yet know when this method securities issued will be implemented.
