Airport charges will rise in the airports of Lisbon and Oporto in November and December this year. The decision was announced today by ANA – Airports of Portugal. In view of the earlier decision, published at the end of October 2015, average rates go from 10.94 to 11.01 euros, seven cents at Lisbon airport and 7.84 to 7.89 euros, plus 0.04 cents at Porto airport . “the adjustment of the rate will have a cumulative effect from 1 November 2016 until 31 December 2016 in order to recoup some of the revenue not collected due to the variation in the volume of traffic, which, under the concession contract, will minimize the impact of this situation on the customers, “says company. the management of airports recalls that the regulatory model, fixing the rates applied by ANA, is set by the State based on estimates made six months in advance before the year they will be applied. based on this assumption, the ANA is saying now that “the estimate made in 2015 in order to establish the rates to be applied in 2016, appears to have been based on a very conservative scenario of traffic growth.” currently the growth perspective of traffic for this year is 8.7%, higher than expected, which means that “the rates are lower than they should,” especially at the airports of Lisbon and Porto. by the end of July, ANA will launch the process of consultation with all users for setting the rates for 2017, since the adjustment announced today – limited to two months – any implication in the rates proposed for next year. in the same statement the company notes that this year has planned investment of 72 million in order to continue to meet the growing increase in traffic.
