the month of June 2016 was the best in 15 years for Algarve hotels, in the occupancy rate concerns. According to data released today by the Association of Hotels and resorts in the Algarve (AHETA), the occupancy rate in the Algarve last month was 81.8%, and we need to go back to 2001 to find a higher register (82.1% ).
Adding to the overall average occupancy rate, which rose 5.2% compared to the registered in the same month of 2015, the turnover also had a considerable increase of 10 1% compared to June last year.
British markets (+ 4,2pp), German (+ 1.7pp), and French (+ 1.1pp) were the main contributors to increase the occupation rate verified.
Already in areas by geographical areas, the largest increases occurred in Tavira (+ 16.9%) and Lagos / Sagres (7.8%). Albufeira, the main tourist area of Algarve, rose by 5.5%.
By categories, the main increases were seen in hotels and apartment hotels of 4 * (+ 6.0%) and 3 * (+5.4%).
