Secretary of State for Sport inaugurates Bike – The Secretary of State for Sport and Youth, Emídio Guerreiro, attended the inauguration of the 3rd phase of the Cycleway Marginal Esposende.
The project, financed by EU funds, cost about 706,000 euros and allowed the continuation of the cycle path on the road sections between Avenue of the Baths and the Esposende Lighthouse, and between the Municipal Swimming Pool Foz do Cávado and the Nautical Activities Center. The project has given the opportunity to make the renewal of these paths and uniform image in architectural terms.
The Mayor of Esposende, Benjamin Pereira, stressed that the Riverside Area is an important asset and a huge attractive, thanking the Secretary of State for Sport for approval of applications linked to sport, pointing out that, overall, the municipality managed to recover 2 million euros.
“In Esposende, money is invested judiciously in quality works and people’s enjoyment,” said Benjamin Pereira.
In turn, Emídio Guerreiro wove high praise to the integrated development model, designed by the Mayor of Esposende, considering it an example. In addition, the minister used the occasion to take note of the large investment that has been implemented by the Central Administration in Sport of the plan, particularly in infrastructure.
“Portugal grows above the European Union”, he said.
