ECB President warnings echo in the news – Renaissance

On the second day of the year, the press highlights the warnings of the President of the European Central Bank (ECB). In an interview with German newspaper “Handelsblatt”, Mario Draghi said the euro zone faces a very high risk of price instability, which can strangle economic growth.

Mario Draghi recognizes that the risk of deflation is greater today than six months ago. Inflation in the euro area fell to 0.3% in November, a level appointed as alarming and may fall further this year, according to the ECB, due to the oil price fall.

In these statements to the German financial newspaper, the president of the European Central Bank says it is to adjust measures to the beginning of this year, if it becomes necessary to react to a very long period of low inflation.

This is a situation that concerns the German central bank. The newspaper “El Mundo” says the Bundesbank criticizes the ECB. The major concern of Germany is that in the long run, banks have to earn more in order to remain competitive.
