Vodafone profitability decreased in Portugal – Jornal de Negócios – Portugal

Vodafone Portugal recorded a decline in profitability in the year ended in March this year. EBITDA fell 6.5%. The operator in Portugal was, in that year, an increase of 73% on their investment reaching 1.6 million homes passed with fiber optics. Fixed services customers such as television, exceeded 300,000.

Vodafone Portugal recorded in the year ended in March, a decline in EBITDA of 6.5% to 289 million pounds (about EUR 398 million). Revenues fell 13.2% to 771 million pounds (about 1,061 million) but Vodafone attributed the fall in revenues from mobile services.

“In Portugal we continue to see a decline in revenues mobile services by the pressure in the convergent offers prices, reflecting a prolonged period of intense competition, partially offset by strong growth in fixed income, “says Vodafone in the statement of annual results released this Tuesday, May 19.

Vodafone Portugal reached, according to the company, covering 1.6 million homes with fiber optic, managed by the agreement with PT Portugal sharing network. To increase the coverage’s investment Vodafone Portugal rose 73% to EUR 376 million.

These financial measures result in growth of fixed customers in the year, and the end of March exceeded the threshold of 300,000. Vodafone accounts for 330 000 fixed customers. Already in mobile falling 164 thousand compared to January led to the registration of a total of 5.043 million mobile customers, and 68.6% prepaid.
