The Association of Indignados and Deceived Commercial Paper (AIEPC) manifests itself today in Guimarães, in front of the New Bank building in Largo do Toural.
This protest, which starts at 10h00, it follows others that have happened in recent days – both in Lisbon and in Porto – to claim the refund of the money invested in commercial paper Espírito Santo Group (GES) , bought the branches of Banco Espirito Santo (BES).
In the capital, some protesters entered even in confrontation with police, threw eggs to the facades of the institutions and set out some glasses.
However, it continues the sales process of the New Bank, remaining in the race the Chinese group Fosun and Anbang and the US group Apollo.
On 7 August, the Administrative Court of the District Lisbon admitted an injunction filed by AIEPC, which requires that the Bank of Portugal inform the buyer of the New Bank’s commercial paper amount owed to about 2,500 subscribers, which around EUR 530 million, ie to include this amount as “a . impairment “in the accounts of the financial institution
There are about 2,500 customers of the New Bank that acquired commercial paper of the GES to BES counters, totaling 527 million euros, which have not yet been reimbursed – it is not yet known solution to this problem.
BES, as it was known, over the August 3, 2014, four days after presenting a historical half-yearly loss of 3.6 billion euros.
