Specials are worth almost half the sales of hypermarkets

The Portuguese Association of Distribution Companies (aped) estimates that promotions already are worth 41% of total supermarket sales, a figure that means an increase of five percentage points compared to last year, reports Monday the Journal News.
According to the newspaper, in the first six months of this year, half of detergents for washing and treatment of clothing were sold at a discount. So did the beers, where more than half of consumers bought with promotion.

For the supermarkets, the scenario is less sympathetic, stresses the newspaper, which believes that soon the retail brands will need to review their policies on pain that they will take damage
