Maria João Carioca, executive chairman of the manager of the stock exchange of Lisbon resigned their position to join the board of directors of Caixa Geral de Depósitos, confirms the Euronext in a press release published this Tuesday, December 13.
“Euronext confirms that Maria João Carioca, CEO of Euronext Lisbon and member of the Managing Board of Euronext, presented the resignation of its functions, after the invitation of the Government of Portugal to join the Board of Directors of Caixa Geral de Depósitos”, informs the release. “The invitation was accepted, being dependent on all of the regulatory approvals by the competent authorities”.
Maria João Carioca was in the leadership of the Euronext Lisbon since the beginning of June, when he replaced Luis Laginha de Sousa. Return now to the public bank, which has already been executive director in the team of José de Matos, who was in command of the General Box of Deposits until August.
Before entering the public bank, in 2013, Maria João Carioca belonged to the executive committee of the SIBS Payment.
“Is a motive of honour that Maria João has been selected for this new role to serve his country. However, Euronext will continue the commitment of investing in Portugal where it is installing its Technology Centre that should have around 120 people by the end of the year. We will work in conjunction with the Mary John to organise the transition in the course of the first quarter of 2017, until the arrival of a successor to the post,” says Stéphane Boujnah, chairman and CEO of the Managing Board of Euronext N. V., quoted in the press release.
The Euronext reports that will initiate the transition process by adopting “all necessary measures” to which this arises: “quiet and regular”.
