The technology the japanese will manufacture jointly with Tesla on the drive from Buffalo, New York, cells and pv modules to equip the roofs, according to statement released by Panasonic this Tuesday, the 27th of December. When the production of roofs with photovoltaic technology, a start, both companies will continue to work in partnership.
The first modules will be manufactured in the Summer of 2017. In 2019, says the same document, it is expected that the production will reach one gigawatt of modules.
Panasonic expects to create “thousands of new jobs in the coming years” on the drive from Buffalo, with the partnership with Tesla. In the same plant, the american company reaffirms its partnership with SolarCity and the consequent creation of over 1,400 jobs. The reported advances even though the Panasonic will work with Solarcity in the development of the photovoltaic technology of new generation in the drive, Fremont, California.
The contract of investment provides that Panasonic will cover the capital cost in the drive of Buffalo. Tesla will make a commitment to buy long-term with the japanese company.
According to Reuters, Panasonic has been supplying batteries to Tesla so unique. In question is the manufacture of the Model 3, the first car of american manufacturer to be manufactured in mass. The same publication advances that the exclusive supply of batteries also extends to the models S and X.
