BE says that the defense of education needs investment – the Express

The mep of the Left Block Marisa Matias said this on Sunday, in reaction to the Christmas message of the prime minister, that the defence of education is not only “good will”, it is necessary to invest.

The defence of education is not only “with good will or with one-off measures. It takes investment,” said mep bloquista, stressing that the country continues to pay more in debt interest” than what I spend on the overall budget for education.

“we Need to free up resources,” claimed Marisa Matias, who was speaking at the headquarters of the Left Block of Coimbra, in reaction to the Christmas message of the prime minister, António Costa, who is considered today the education as the main priority of the families and society.

however, the mep of the BE acknowledged that the Government has made a commitment to the “public school”, especially when “you decided to begin to terminate the contracts of association, or measures such as free textbooks”.

Despite the commitment, Marisa Matias underlined that the “eternal problem” focuses on the “resources available”, with the country having a “primary balance very high”, but without being able to enjoy it.

“the renegotiation of The debt is an issue absolutely central,” allowing the country to “free up resources” to be able to invest, notably in education, he noted.

In reaction BE to the speech of António Costa, the mep emphasised that 2016 “proved that it was possible to do better than he did in previous years”, referring to the fact that the Government must prove “that if you can do better in 2017″.

“We’re happy, but we are not yet satisfied”, he summed up, still leaving some challenges for the executive socialist: a serious investment in culture, the end of public-private partnerships in the National Health Service (NHS), combating precarious employment not only in the public sector as in private and even an increase of the collective contracting.
